Sućuraj
Our fishing village is located on the east cape of the island of Hvar.
The history of Sućuraj, which is longer then 2300 years, was created along with Croats by many other nations who once ruled this territory leaving their marks in architecture and culture alike.
Sućuraj has been demolished and rebuilt again and again throughout history; the oldest building is the Franciscan monastery (once Augustan).
The cute inter-connecting in building stone houses with closed streets indicate a specific style of construction conditioned by the constant danger of pirates from the river Neretva.
Today’s parish church of St. George by whom the village got its name was built at the end of the 19th century. Interesting is also the baroque church of St. Antony from 1663 as well as the Venetian fort from 1613.
The pleasant climate, abundance of sun and the refreshing breeze of the summer mistral along with several sand beaches and hidden coves, as well as the untouched nature make Sućuraj the place where everyone can find their place to relax. Unavoidable pleasures certainly offer the restaurants with their offer of first class fresh fish and top-quality wines.
In the town is everything you need for peaceful holiday. Except 3 stores (selling general groceries, fruit, veg, meat), several restaurants, caffe bars, ice-shop, children playground, newsstand there is post office, infirmary.

The island of Hvar is the sunniest island on the Adriatic, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean. Year after year, the island of Hvar is voted in “Europe's Top Ten most beautiful Islands” in the Conde Nast Reader's Choice Awards. The crystal clear blue waters, abundance of stunning beaches and secluded bays have certainly also ensured that Hvar is consistently voted as a top destination.
The green island also stands out for its magnificent natural beauty. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. At the same time though Hvar town, one of the liveliest and most exclusive towns in Croatia is well established as a hub for vibrant nightlife, chic boutiques and stunning Venetian architecture.
